Nikki & Jordan // Wedding

Happy New Year! It’s not too late to say that, right? I’ve got some exciting weddings and engagements to show off from late 2011. One of my goals for 2012 is to focus more on my blog and share with everyone the awesome events and people I get to cover.

To start this year off I’m thrilled to post Nikki and Jordan’s wedding. They are undoubtedly some of the coolest people I met last year, and their wedding was one of the most memorable.
We began at their house in beautiful South Riding and at the Four Points Sheraton in Manassas. Their ceremony was held at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Afterwards, we headed over to Manassas Battlefield to capture some epic bride, groom, and bridal party photos. We finished at the The Piedmont Club in Haymarket, VA.

April & John // Mansion Wedding

This fall I’ve already had the opportunity to travel all over for weddings and engagements. Just an hour west brought me to Haymarket on Saturday, while a short hour east presents Baltimore, a totally different environment. That’s one great aspect of living and working in Washington DC, it serves as a central hub for urban atmospheres, rural landscapes, and anything in between.
I had the pleasure of photographing April and John’s wedding throughout Baltimore, with their day beginning at the fabulous downtown Marriott Courtyard near the Inner Harbor. We then had a short drive to St. Vincent de Paul Church, which really had a grungy facade and mysterious feel to it, as you can see below.

Their wedding ended at the Mansion at Valley Country Club, which is a historic victorian mansion north of Baltimore. This made for an exciting reception and provided fantastic elements for some unforgettable pictures.

Here are just a few of my favoirties from the day. Enjoy!

Arlene & Sam // Bride & Groom

Meet Arlene and Sam. Two awesome people that came to me seeking some rockin’ bride and groom photos. Something diverse and a little different. We decided on one of my favorite spots throughout the DC area, Old Town Alexandria. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – each and every time I shoot there brings a whole new dynamic to the photos. We had a great time wandering through the streets, taking advantage of the uniqueness Old Town has to offer, while incorporating beautiful soft light and dramatic skies.
The last one in the set is my favorite. The right light, the right time, the right people!

Marilyn & Charles // Wedding

Marilyn and Charles had their wedding at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church and an exciting Maryland wedding venue, Martin’s Crosswinds. We had a chance to head to The University of Maryland in College Park for some bridal party photography before hand.

Another thing to add: HEAT WAVE! When we went to take the bridal party photos, I would bet one of my cameras it was over 100 degrees.
OK, I wouldn’t bet a camera, but my car said it was 107. Thanks to everyone for staying outside longer than anticipated for photos while I ran around like a kid with candy, focusing more on the awesome campus than hydrating myself. Afterwards, we got to cool down and enjoy a great reception. This was my first time shooting at Martin’s Crosswinds, and I’m looking forward to the next time.

If you missed their engagement, check it out here.

Melissa & Kevin // A Beach Wedding

Melissa and Kevin had their wedding at the fantastic Chesapeake Bay Beach Club. It was an incredible day mixed of fun people, perfect weather, and a reception that was wild! The DJ (D-Mac) kept the flow going throughout the entire night.
DISCLAIMER: Right now it’s that time of the summer, it seems EVERYONE is out of town for vacation, so don’t scroll down if you’re at home with a desire to be on the beach!
Thanks to Tara Parekh for the great second shooting.
Enjoy!

Heidi & James // Polo Field Wedding

Heidi and James had one of the most fantastic-original-DIY-inspiring-unique weddings I’ve ever seen. I’ve been antsy to show off their photos for the last two weeks! Both recently coming out of school with a background in architecture (a passion of mine, as well) they were able to apply some creative planning strategies and design concepts to their wedding. They even had a DIY photo booth.
It was held at the Great Meadow Polo Club, located outside of DC (west of Haymarket) and not too far from Shenandoah Valley.
Their “countryside carnival” wedding coupled with a vintage and rustic touch, really enhances the summer landscape, fun and games, and one-of-a-kind DIY details.

Tynee & John // Great Falls Wedding

Tynee and John’s wedding was an awesome combination of people, food, and emotion.

Their ceremony took place at the very nice St. Catherine of Siena in Great Falls, Virginia. After that, we headed over to the Embassy Suites in Dulles.

Near the end of the reception, we stepped outside and made use of an awesome field for bride and groom photos. Thanks Tynee and John! You guys were fantastic to work with.

Christine & Loy // Wedding

Christine & Loy. If you follow my photography there is no doubt you have seen them here before, with their first engagement session at Great Falls Park in 2010 and an even more exciting second engagement during the Washington, D.C. Cherry Blossom Festival.

If you missed it, one of the photographs placed second in the National Cherry Blossom Photo Contest (and is currently in the final round for another contest – more to come soon!).

With that said I’m excited to finally show off their wedding! Their reception was at Oxon Hill Manor, which provided some fantastic photography opportunities. The ceremony was held at St. Columbia Church (The same place as Kristine & Rodney’s wedding).

Thanks to Zach Tuggle for the awesome second shooting and lighting assistance.

I also have to credit mother nature; as some afternoon storms rolled out she provided some pretty neat skies. Scroll down below for epic images!

Erin & Glenn // D.C. Wedding

Wedding photography in Washington, D.C. is always a dynamic experience. It’s even better when you don’t have to drive! Erin & Glenn were married at the amazing Carnegie Institution for Science. New to me, this venue made for some stunning photographs. Their ceremony took place at The Church of the Holy City.

Even though it was very cold, the day was a lot of fun and full of great people that know how to party!

If you missed Erin & Glenn’s engagement photography at Meridian Hill Park, you don’t want to miss it. See it here.

Thanks to Tara Parekh for shooting with me!
