Penn Station Engagement

Meet April and Dan. An awesome couple that chose one of the most unique urban locations you could imagine: Pennsylvania Train Station in Baltimore. This train station engagement shoot was a total change of pace from my last few sessions and a thrill the whole way through. We ventured in and out and down and up – so swiftly we didn’t even come close to getting kicked out.

Melinda & Pat // Portland Engagement

Melinda and Pat are two of the most down to earth and nicest people I’ve met in a while. Melinda is from Alaska and Pat is from Portland, Maine (oh.. just a few miles away). Once they booked me for their DC wedding it came down to timing and a location for their engagement. It happened that they decided on Portland and flew me out with them!

I had the pleasure of meeting Pat’s parents, getting a comprehensive tour of Portland’s coast, learning way too much about lighthouses (just kidding!), eating some awesome lobster and homemade enchiladas, and of course spending the day capturing these two together. The sun even decided to come out in full swing; it was the perfect weekend mixture. I can’t thank you both enough!

Danielle & Karl // Engagement

If you haven’t noticed, it’s been quite wet the last few weeks (and months). Dodging hurricanes and tropical storms is always a challenge when you have lots of awesome people to photograph. Last week I had the pleasure of shooting Danielle and Karl’s engagement photos near their home on Capitol Hill. They brought along an awesome little surprise – Max the Jack Russell Terrier.
With relentless rain the days before and 90% chance of precipitation the exact time of shooting, we had begun to brainstorm creative umbrella photos. However mother nature gave us a window of opportunity, and we didn’t waste any time taking advantage of it!

Danielle and Karl live right near the heart of Eastern Market, an awesome Capitol Hill neighborhood in Washington, D.C.
We began there with Max, and had a blast exploring the unique atmosphere and ‘old-town’ feel Eastern Market has to offer. After, we hopped on the metro to the National Mall, and worked our way towards the Washington Monument, finishing with one of my favorite sunset + silhouette shots.

Really looking forward to their wedding in June!

Meet Ashley and Mike! They selected one my favorite spots for engagement photos, Old Town Alexandria. We started on King St. (mmm.. Starbucks) and headed down the waterfront, stopping along the way. One hour went by quick!

Meet Randi and Brian – an awesome couple from just north of Baltimore in Towson, Maryland. I was thrilled when they decided to have their engagement photography at the renown Palisades of Towson. A super modern design, relaxed atmosphere and environmentally friendly features made this building a unique place to shoot. We had a great time and then headed outside to capture some local aspects of Towson.

Marilyn & Charles // Engagement

Marilyn and Charles have a cool style and wanted to mix it with a similar styled engagement location. They definitely did it by selecting Meridian Hill Park in Washington, D.C. for their engagement photography. Even though their session was a quick one (1 hour) we captured some great images. This place is awesome and if you haven’t been there I highly suggest it (some of you may know it as Malcolm X Park).

Cat & Matt // Old Town Engagement

Meet Cat and Matt. They are super cool and chose to have their engagement photography in Old Town Alexandria. Not only is this one of the most unique places to shoot at, we started at 7:30 in the morning! So naturally it contrasted with the plentiful amount of people at the cherry blossoms.

A great location with some great spring weather made this session fun and relaxed, yielding some fantastic photos.

Cherry Blossom Festival // Engagement

If you weren’t aware, the cherry blossoms are in full swing right now in Washington, D.C. Christine and Aloysius not only wanted their photographs to reflect this annual extravaganza, but it was their second engagement session! I had a blast shooting their last one in fall 2010, and this one was even more fun.

Don’t be fooled by the photos, there were copious amounts of locals, tourists, and – photographers! With a little bit of timing, technique, and luck we were able to get some great shots (The last one is my favorite). Their wedding is later this month.
