President Barack Obama // Rally

While in Columbus last weekend to shoot Danielle & Jake’s wedding, I had an opportunity for first row access to U.S. President Barack Obama’s speech. The rally focused on Health Care Reform and the November 2 midterm elections. First Lady Michelle Obama was in appearance along with Gov. Ted Strickland and Sen. John Glenn. The rally of approximately 35,000 comprised the largest crowd that Obama has addressed since his inauguration! Traveling light to the rally with just my 5D Mark II and 135mm f/2 L lens. Here are a few of my favorites.

Modern Thieves // Band Photography

Just a few days ago I had an exciting opportunity to shoot a local Washington DC band, Modern Thieves. I teamed up with Amy Willard who is quite the band & concert photographer. We met up without a plan, collaborated on some ideas throughout the night and overall everything went great. Although we originally intended to shoot off the Pentagon City rooftop overlooking the Pentagon, we quickly got booted from the ‘high security’ location. Luckily Amy had the idea to shoot at the nearby Air Force Memorial.
This alternative location served us even better and considering how late in the evening it was we were able to pull off some pretty cool shots. I’m looking forward to working with additional bands in the future. Be sure to contact me if your group needs promotion material.
Here are just a few of my favorites:

John Mayer // Concert Photography

Shooting a live concert is a sheer adrenaline rush, especially when it’s a huge star at a great venue. Capturing the essence and energy of a singer or band in only a few allotted minutes is quite an enjoyable challenge. So here a few of my favorite from the shoot.

Shot with the legendary 5D Mark II, 85mm f/1.8, and 24-70 f/2.8L.
